About MeatProcessingPlant.com

MeatProcessingPlant.com is a free, independent directory of 4079 USDA-inspected meat processing facilities across all 50 states. It exists to solve the problem farmers and ranchers run into at the end of every season: the hardest part of turning a raised animal into retail-ready meat is usually not the raising — it is finding a processor with the right services that you can actually reach.

Why I Built This Platform

I built this site because I noticed that many small meat processing plants lag far behind the rest of the world in their web presence. A surprising number of working slaughterhouses and butcher shops have no website at all, or a page that hasn't been touched in years. That makes them nearly invisible to the customers who need them most.

For livestock producers, the result is a real bottleneck. Finding a qualified, accessible processor for cattle, hogs, poultry, or small ruminants too often means word of mouth, outdated lists, and phone calls to plants that stopped taking animals years ago — while processing windows at the good operations book out months in advance. By creating a single site that lists the small plants in one searchable place, I could build a reliable resource for animal farmers looking for a partner to turn their animals into retail products.

Where the Data Comes From

Every listing on this site is compiled from USDA inspection data — the federal registry of meat and poultry establishments operating under federal inspection. Each record includes the establishment name, street address, phone number, plant size, the animal types processed, and the date the facility received its Grant of Inspection.

Listings are refreshed periodically as facilities open, close, or change. If a listing is missing a phone number or another detail, that field was simply absent from the source record. Plant owners who claim their listings can keep their own details current, which supplements the federal data with information straight from the people running the plant.

The data page shows the full methodology, along with per-state, per-animal, and per-size breakdowns of the entire dataset.

What You Can Do on This Site

For Plant Owners & Operators

If you own or manage a facility listed here, you can claim your listing: open your plant's profile, click Claim this Plant, and create a free account. Once your claim is verified, you can manage your listing directly — hours, contact details, services, and more. A claimed badge on your profile tells customers the information is coming from you.

Not ready to claim a listing? You can still request corrections to your entry, report missing services, or remove your plant from the directory through our contact page. Feature suggestions and bug reports are welcome there too.

Thanks for checking out the site — I hope it saves you a few phone calls.
